How can You Apply Solar Power for Homes? And why should you?
With dramatically rising energy costs - and in my opinion we are just seeing the beginning - everybody does or will ask him/herself the question how to get off this rollercoaster and off the grid.

And the grid in itself has high financial risks. Have you ever thought about what the maintenance of the grid itself costs annually?
Well, a lot! And this is included in your electricity bill.
In Europe this is also included in your natural gas bill.
Even if you would consume 0 kWhrs, you still would get a huge bill - only to keep the system running.
And the older the grid gets, the higher these costs.
For more reasons to become energy independent please read my page Solar Power Generator.
So you see, even without rising costs for energy and my predicted cooling down of the earth, there are many reasons to become self-sustaining and independent.
And then we arrive at the question: "How can we use Renewable and Solar Energy ... at home?"
This special page you are reading right now is about the basics.
Well, you can start with small things, like a Solar Powered Water Pump.
Or to read about a Solar Water Fountain Pump.
You find more information about:
Here you also find information about the pitfall of these solar outdoor Pumps and Lights: The rechargeable Battery!
Check out these sections if you want to know more about one of these special topics.
So here we gonna investigate what you need to go Solar - finally.
The economy of scale (the more people buy something, the more is produced, the cheaper it gets) promises us that the more people switch from the dying fossil fuels to renewable power sources, the cheaper it gets for everyone.
Also the technology gets more and more efficient and the production of the systems cheaper and cheaper.
And once you have made the investment, every watt of power you consume is free from then on - while staying on the grid would mean to come up for all the decay and errors of the past.
(Those who are the DIY type please check out the special section DIY Solar Power).
So is investing in Home Solar Power Systems a good idea? Or a zeitgeist way to waste money? Well, read my article and why I urgently recommend you to turn Solar.
This article also provides with instructions how to calculate the solar system you need and what effect it will have on the value of your house.
So, are you decided to go solar?
Well, firstly you need...
So how can you actually use Solar Power for Homes yourself?
To have free electricity in the future, you will need to use Solar Power actively.
But you need to know how much "sun sails" or so called Solar Panels you need.
For this, you have to calculate your consumption, for example with this little tool.
(You find a manual at Home Solar Power Systems, scroll down and read the text).
This tool is for the US. If you live outside the US, there you also find instructions how to get the right size you need for your area.
So now that you know how much solar panels you need, let’s have a look what the cost is.
What factors determine your Solar Panel Cost at all?
Note that the Cost of Solar Panels differ between doing it yourself (see DIY Solar Power) and buying Retail Solar Panels. Read this article to learn more.
If you want to buy Retail Solar Panels yourself, go to Solar Panels for Sale to find yourself a good deal.
But buying the panels is not all.
For example, you still need a tool to turn the DC current coming from the sun into AC, what is what your appliances use.
For this you need an inverter.
And the dangerous part - and PRO ONLY - is to connect the system to your existing internal power grid.
Oh, and have you thought about storing the energy? Because you will agree that you will need most of the energy in the evenings, when there is no sunshine.
There exist different possibilities, and it gets a bit complicated.
On the one hand, you could completely go off grid and install a battery.
On the other hand, you can make use of an incentive many countries force their utilities to offer: Have the meter run backwards when they have to buy the electricity you produce. At night then, you just retake it back from the grid.
Very nice idea. And makes sense if the grid will work in the future the way it does today.
But if only the price for your consumption does rise and not what you get for feeding the grid, it will become a very bad idea in the future (but you can still anytime install a battery then and go completely off grid).
So, I think we covered the information you need. I really think now it is time you should get yourself a free quote from a Pro, someone who will have to guarantee you the system works.
But with the information I provided, you can discuss the price with him (or her) and
So, since you are no DIYer (and even then, connecting to the grid is a job for the PROs)
By the way: You should also ask them about Leasing the Solar System, especially if you wouldn’t have a system installed otherwise.
Because governments want to lower the carbon footprint the countries leave our children, many incentives are given to consumers of Renewable Power sources.
Different regions of the world have different potentials for different renewable energy sources. If you are from Canada, check out the Solar Power Canada potentials.
