Honda Fit Hybrid

The Honda Fit Hybrid - in most countries the 'Fit' is known as 'Jazz' - is Honda's 2010 attempt to finally succeed with a Hybrid Car.

If asked, probably Honda would have to admit that they are disappointed by their Hybrid successes so far.

The Honda Coupe CR-Z hybrid and the Insight Hybrid haven't lived up to expectations yet. And the top dog to beat is the Toyota Prius.

So with rumours going back to actually 2006 it seems that Honda has made up its mind to run a Hybrid version of the highly successful 'Fit' (Jazz) against the top of the class Prius.

And this time it seems Honda is prepared for a fight. Scheduled to be released in autumn 2010 the pricing is highly competitive and about a 20% below the cheapest Hybrid on the Japanese market.

It is assumed that this move could be the first shot in a price war between Hybrids. Good news for the customers.

It is estimated that the Fit Hybrid will only need 3.3 l/100km (71 MPG).

As a comparison: The 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid shows about 40/45 MPG.

If and when the Fit/Jazz are sold in Europe and the US isn't decided yet.
