Well, actually this not totally true, because lately BioDiesel has grown in market acceptance, in Europe the oil companies are even forced to mix it to the normal Diesel.

Bio diesel is made from the oils of fresh plants, like canola oil. While the fossil oil is derived from dead plants far below in the earth.

Bio diesel is a sustainable, regrowing vegetable product, while fossil - petroleum - oil will be exhausted soon ...very soon.

And since ie. Canola uses CO₂ to grow, though Carbon dioxide is later released when burning Bio diesel, it is a closed circuit and so Bio diesel leaves no Carbon Footprint.

Bio fuel diesel is a Renewable Energy.
